If you’re feeling lost and a little stuck with your writing, almost as if you can’t quite find it in you to push those words out – fear not, writing prompts are here to save your life.

They come in all shapes in sizes, lots of different styles, and can be written based on numerous different genres. Writing prompts come with limitless possibilities, and that’s why they’re so useful. Whether you’re stuck on a certain part of your WIP, and need to take some time out to write something else, or if you can’t write at all due to a lack of inspiration – writing prompts have got your back.

Today’s prompt is delivered in more of a sinister context, in the hopes that you’ll be able to work on that dark side of your brain that needs some freedom to roam every now and then. You’ll be able to work on your plot twists and shocking reveals, and also your gory descriptions. And want to know the best part? You won’t have to think yourself into a mess before you begin writing.

Now For The Writing

writing tips

You have your prompt, now hop to it. Sit down and get some words onto the page.

When working based on this prompt, consider the reasons behind the way you’re writing. You’re aiming to build tension that will leave the reader on the edge of their seat, so you can deliver a shocking reveal that will knock them right off of it. Keep those sentences snappy and the pace quick – it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Try this prompt for size and create something based on it. If you do write something, please share it with me in one way or another. Tag me in a post, post it in the comments, send it to me in an email – I’d love to read your work.

Who knows? If you send something my way and I really like the way you write, I might just offer you a discount on my editing services. Or I might even edit a few chapters for free. It’s worth a try on your part.
